In 2011, Kate commenced her tertiary studies in music, singing with such ensembles at the UWA Winthrop Singers, Melismatica, Summa Musica and The Mapstone Choral Scholars. In 2013, Kate decided to pursue conducting, taking on her first conducting position with Voices of the Valley (2013-2015). Since then she has been the conductor of A Cappella Go (2014-2016), Churchlands Choral Society (2015-2018), the Australian Girls Choir (2015-2018, 2021-), the Mapstone Scholars (2016-2018), and the South Perth Chamber Choir (2018-2019).

Receiving mentorship  from the Australian conductors Jessica Gethin and Carl Crossin, Kate has travelled extensively to develop her skills as a conductor, including participating in the 2015 National Youth Choir of Australia conductor development program, 2015 ACCET Choral Conductors Summer School and 2015 ANCA Choralfest. 2016 saw Kate debut with the professional ensemble the Giovanni Consort for their concert Sacred and Profane, and also be awarded the position of director of music at the Church of the Resurrection, Swanbourne, where she conducted the Mapstone Scholars and two specialist training choirs for school-aged musicians. Under the guidance of Jessica Gethin, that year Kate also took part in a Conducting Masterclass with Fremantle Symphony Orchestra, and guest conducted the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. In 2017 she conducted the premiere of the chamber opera Beyond the Wall by Emma Jayakumar. 

In 2018 Kate took on the position of Director of Music at St Mary's Anglican Church, South Perth, where she established the St Mary's Chamber Choir. In 2019 she conducted and sang on the Giovanni Consort's debut album, as well as conducting their concert Rejoice in the Lamb. She has also participated in Perth Symphony Orchestra's 2019 and 2020 Women on the Podium conducting programs, receiving mentorship from Jessica Gethin, Alice Farnham and Jessica Cottis.

 

Despite the challenges of of the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020 Kate recorded the premier of Emma Jayakumar's The Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie for West Australian Ballet and Perth Symphony Orchestra, and conducted the West Australian Symphony Orchestra under the mentorship of Jessica Gethin 

 

Currently, Kate is the Artistic Director and General Manager of the Giovanni Consort, and an Emerging Artist with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Kate is also a soprano lay clerk with the St George's Cathedral Choir and Consort.
